Well that's a very good question... Very.

*suddenly dons a professor's outfit and a podium rises out of nothing... you find yourself suddenly sitting at a desk...
with several Tenchi Muyo! manga suddenly appearing on your desktop*

Today's Lesson is on the Characters of Tenchi Muyo! Specifically Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OAV (OVA) which also appear in the manga in front of you. And yes the plural AND the singular of manga... is manga. *cutesy tone* Just like cute little sheep! *laugh*

*normal tone* The Story revolves around a boy named Tenchi Masaki...

Yes, What is it?

Then where does the Title come from? I was just about to get to that...

As I was saying...*clears throat* it revolves around this boy and how he deals with all these alien girls that end up staying with him. The Title Means "No need for Tenchi" but can also mean "This Side up Tenchi" because muyo -or muyou- can be read as "useless" "futility" "needlessness" and "unnecessariness"

How can it mean "this side up?" The Japanese lecture is down the hall. How should I know. And please raise your hand next time. It probably has something to do with the futility reading. I mean it IS futile to hold something the wrong way up. Isn't it?

Where was I? Oh yes. Tenchi Masaki is just an ordinary -so far as he knows- high school teenager. Nothing really out of the ordinary save that he isn't dating and he has wierd friends who we will not discuss. His grandfather -on his mother's side- is the caretaker of a shrine up in the Mountains. Which coincidentally is the Masaki shrine. But then there is a big mess of the family tree which can be viewed as figure one on the board here.

*mindless graphic with the words figure one below it*

One day he finally gets the keys to the old cave the shrine guards -where a demon was imprisioned 700 years ago- and of course he goes in to investigate. Now on to the other characters.

*suddenly the room explodes into "Awwww..." and "Not fair!" even though it is just you and the "professor"*

*claps hands twice* Quiet, Quiet. Well as I seemed to have lost you do you have any questions?

*the Character faces appear on the overhead with names beneath them... and then something appears before you... it is a touch screen with a family tree... looking between the screen and the overhead projection... you come to the conclusion that FORTUNATELY this Tenchi person isn't related to most of the cast... just a sizable portion.*
