Taro's Grandmother gets lots of lines for a character only appearing in one episode (that being 8)

We don't get any close (or even distant) family talk because Noboyuki (Tenchi's Father) Doesn't make an appearance in this episode... and almost nothing in 8 is brought up in 9. And we don't see Tenchi's Grandfather (Katsuhito Masaki) either. Must be doing Shrine duties.
